3 Funerals in 3 Days
I’ve now had multiple really close friends, people I consider family, lose someone close to them this week. I’m also headed to my Aunt’s funeral this week. I wrote the following letter to one of them, and I think it applies to not just them, but also me.
I know when my grandpa passed away I had tears streaming down my face as I carried that casket out of the funeral home and into the hearse. The real hard part, though, was when they started playing Taps after they lowered him into the grave. It’s funny though, of all the moments in life, it’s the one that brings the rest of the family together the quickest. So, I think steve jobs had it right that it’s “life’s great change agent”, but what I think he missed was that it’s also life’s great family magnet.I have to believe stuff like this happens at the right times in our lives. I know I’m looking forward to my aunt’s funeral this week because I get to celebrate her life and there’s family that’s going to be there I’ve either never met or haven’t seen in decades.Keep your head up, you’re doing what you love and you’re surrounded by people who love you. That’s wealth.
3 funerals in 3 days. I guess I only have one question: are you living your life focused on The Last 3%?
