What Is Quantum Entanglement
Stand in front of a mirror.
Raise your hand.
See how no matter what you do, the other “you” also does it at the exact same time?
That’s the concept of quantum entanglement. It’s two things, separated by any distance, that when one changes, the other one is changing at the exact same time.
Lets bring this down to earth and every day life.
Today, we send emails, text messages, post status updates, Instagram pictures, and do our best at twittering.
But there’s a delay.
The information has to be typed on your device, the electrons powering the keyboard need to travel through the computer, and change what’s displayed on your screen. Then you have to push “send”. Now the real wait begins. The data must be transmitted into storage on your device, then up to the Internet, then down to the owner of the service you’re using then a program needs to run and match your message with your recipient’s address, then the process needs to be reversed and get all the way to that person in order to show up on their display.
Whew.
Or, we could just quantum entangle two people’s “text messages” and as I type it shows up on your screen. No delay. Just nice ‘n neat.
As the particles change on my end, they’re “linked” and changing on your end.
Now imagine trying to communicate not just on the other side of the world, but on the other side of the universe. This is the only way it can be done.
And that’d probably make iMessage a whole lot more fun.
