The Wisdom of Skeuomorphism

The problem isn’t about stitched leather. It never has been.

It’s about making a cold, clinical interface warm and inviting like grandma’s hug.

The debate raging in the design halls of Apple are missing the point, methinks. Both sides of the aisle are right. They all just need to all step out into the hall, grab a ladder, and look down on the problem to see it from a different angle.

Keep the warm, recognizable and hopefully nostalgic interface elements for the “body” of the content, and leave the navigation as classic, intuitive interactions.

Keep the soul, keep the simplicity. But do them both better.

As one thing, not two.
